Default A touch of texture...

Wanted to do something different for the assignment since others were stealing all of my ideas...

Before..

And after..
What is texture, without touch?

I started by converting to black and white, followed by two layers of the DIY High Pass Filter (explained in this subforum by Wulf). This was then finished off by using the GIMP Artistic Filter "Clothify" which adds a cloth texture to the whole image.

i saw your image in the assignment thread.
very nice picture.. the fingerprints are definatley greatly exaggerated now.
i also think the fade from dark to light is good to see.

I had a go last night at doing this, but I couldn't get as much detail as you did in your fingerprint. I suspect it's because I was holding the camera, while trying to get my finger far enough away for it to be able to focus I might try again later with the camera on a flat surface and a remote or timer.

Wonderfully interesting conversion and photograph. Thanks for sharing your workflow. I'm now more convinced I need to check out gimp.
