Default Wasington DC Town Homes.

I ran this through Lightroom then did tone mapping in photomatix. I tried to do only mild tone mapping to recover what I lost because of light. I do not like shots unrealistic so this was mild. This was done from 5 exposure from 1 raw file. I did this to recover from a overcast day.

Yes - the colours are much richer but I think the washed out sky detracts from the image. I think I would have tried to frame the shot so the sky wasn't included at all, so the results of your post-processing treatment could shine without distractions.

Since I live 11 miles from DC - the first one is what it looks like in Real life (Were you near U street or 395 or the Capital Bldg?) BUT the second one is pleasing to the eye...

bhursey, I keep a "blue sky" handy for situations like this. Voila!

Great work in pp, btw, with the colors and not overdoing it.

I really like the colors in the second one. You did a great job.
The sky and the branches at the top are a bit distracting, but cropping those out would be easy and it would bring the focus back to the houses.

Can you explain a little more what you mean by 5 exposures from 1 raw file. Do you mean you took five shots that were raw? I am a little confused.

I went in my light room. Using one raw image I exported a total of 5 jpegs. at the following exposures. -2 -1 0 1 2 then I used photomatix and created a hdr image. Then I used the tone mapping section instead of the details enhancing section to keep the adjustments realistic. You can do the same thing in photoshop and merging images I think.

I think we were on Columbia Rd NW going north east towards Adams Mill RD/18th St NW My sister lives near there on Calvert St.

I remember the colors being brighter than the first picture though. It was a very very overcast and rainy day. I could be wrong.
