Default Stari Most Bridge and Neretva river in Mostar, Bosnia.

Here's a pic of the Stari Most bridge over looking the Neretva river in Mostar, Bosnia.

I just did a few auto adjustments on Photoshop C3, I'm new to the program so don't really know a great deal about it yet. What do people think of the 'after' version? I think I might prefer the original, the sky is blue-er and after the adjustments the second one looks washed out.

Would appreciate some feedback.

I agree, the original has nicer colors and more depth.

It looks like you posted them backwards. I like the original better.

The colors are more saturated, the highlights aren't blown out, and the photo is better exposed.

I like the original better too. The colors are much richer and natural. Beautiful shot by the way.

The original has better depth, but I do think that playing with the colours could be fun.

though this isnt a critique subforum u asked for opinion so it goes: u obviously tried to lighten up the shadows - so why not use shadow/highlites? this one even saturates the colors more. maybe trying to select the parts of the shots and making them as separate layers and then playing around w/ settings for each part - coz the sky won't react the same as would the water and/or the bridge...
and one for the composition - maybe u should have included the left part of the "fortress" on the bridge (though its the right bank - hence the right part of the bridge..lol)

PS, nice place, the old bridge, aint it?..been there this summer, been lucky - guys jumped off it....next time visit the old turret - if u didnt - the one on ur shot w/ lots of small windows under the top - whatta view
later

How do I select individul parts of the shot and make them into seperate layers in PP C3?

The bridge originally dates back to the 16th century but was destoryed in the 1990s during the conflict and was re-built afterwards using the recovered stones to a near perfect copy of the original. I also saw the divers jumping from the bridge, rather them than me.

there are a lot of tools in PS for selection. the one I use the most is quickmask and brushing things usually w/ soft brush - needs less feathering afterwords. for large monotone areas magic wand works wonders - lol
but...surf around the internet and definitely take a book on PS - hard copy is still hard copy - try finding scott kelby's works in ur library..beats my explanations and tutorials
