Default colouring

Here is an example of how I recolour an image:

Before:

IMG_0826 (original)

Now, again, please correct me if I'm wrong, but the reds look too intense here.

So, I did a colour cast and marked as white a section of the net which I know is supposed to be white, and came up with this:

After:

IMG_0826-01 (recoloured)

I'm not going to claim to be proficient at this-my PP skills are poor, and my ability to see colour is weak.

Default Lighting

What kind if light did they use in the gym?

What was your White Balance set for the type of lighting in the gym?

Nice action shot little or no blur.

I'm not quite sure what kind of light it is. Florescent? And that's what the WB was set as.

Thank you for the no-blur comment. I shot this at 1/1250 sec

Default Color

I like the color in the second shot better. The first looked a little to warm.

Sometimes color is matter of choice. Here's a link that you my like to help explain Color, White Balance and Temperature.

SJH, this is a reasonable job. Since this is not the critique section, I am only going to say that you might want something mostly color corrected but perhaps 25% of the "too warm" version. The players are playing, and some warmth adds the, well, warmth that would be expected.

Another thing I will mention is that you really don't know the net is white. Your eye thinks it should be white, because that's what you expect. But really it could have some slight color whether by design or age, etc., that would fool the logic. I recommend in situations like this one that you take a sheet of paper or something that you are CERTAIN is white (or gray) and taking a picture of it in the same light as the game. Use that as your starting reference point for every picture you take in the same light.

That's actually how I shoot usually-with a white card. The pics just always look extremely red to me. I realise though that it's just me.

Well done,

the second picture look more natural and "marketable"

I am FAR from an expert with indoor photography, but I know I've had decent [35mm]results in the past, in fluorescent lighting (which is probably what this is), with a filter made just for fluorescent, indoor shots. I don't know if it's applicable with digital...just a thought since you take so many of these gym shots. Any good photo shop should be able to give you some detail on filters.
