Default Had to perform a little surgery!

Dragonfly with Torn Wing Before

Dragonfly Torn Wing

Dragonfly with Torn Wing After

Dragonfly Torn Wing After

Exif Data

Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/800)
Aperture: f/6.3
Focal Length: 205 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV
Flash: Flash did not fire

I didn't realize how badly this dragonfly's wing was torn until I got home and looked at the image on my computer.

Decided to to try to fix the wings about a week ago and became frustrated.
Took another shot at it today.

For the most part I used the clone tool in PSE6 to take out the reeds in the background. I also duplicated the image, flipped the top layer, then merged them to fill in the wing on the right. Used the clone tool to touch some rough areas. Not perfect but, after trying many different ways to try to fixed this dragonfly's wing, I'm more or less satisfied with the result.

Default Thanks

Fortunately the surgery didn't hurt a bit.

I see you have a Rebel XSi. I'm hoping to one day save enough for 40D.

Peace

My friend has as 30D, and I tell you, my XSi felt like a toy next to his (which had a huge big lense and battery pack attached)

Can you use his lenses, or are they incompatible?

I think they're compatible, but I was lucky to be able to TOUCH them, let alone USE them. They're his precious....

no, he's just very committed to his art. I think one of his lenses is magical, it shows imperfections of the skin the naked eye can't pick up. Those sorts of lenses shouldn't be allowed to be pointed at a woman

Since we are way off topic here in the Before and After Forum, what kind of post processing or editing have you tried?

What PP software do you use?

way off topic! Have tried a few, but Photoshop will always be my favourite. I like picasa for a quick red eye or re-size, and have recently downloaded bibble & rawtherapee, but I keep going back to the comfort zone of photoshop. Raw files are a new concept for me, so I guess I don't know what I'm missing.

What you've done in this picture is exactly the kind of stuff I like doing
