Default Lightroom 2

Thought I'd share this with you guys. I'm not sure that I even like my own 'after' (it's a bit much really, and I prefer Photoshop for sharpening and preparation for web) but this one is just for an example of the features of the new version of Lightroom. I was able to selectively alter the exposure of the face and the saturation of the background, as well as applying a Post-crop vignette. The masking alteration and post-crop vignette features are my favorite part of the upgrade, though I have only just installed, so i'm still going!

It is interesting to see some results from LR2. I played with the beta version some and have been tossing around the idea of upgrading my 1.4. In the end I don't know that is worth it. I already have CS3 and Aperture 2. I only ended up with 1.4 as I got it free for beta testing. I may pull the trigger and upgrade LR2 as well.. or not hehe.

Here's a comprehensive review of Lightroom2.

Looks like a worthwhile upgrade

I've been playing around with lr2 for the last few days. I used to use iphoto for photo management and photoshop for adjustments. So far I'm really liking it. The brush filters are great. I also like the batch functionality, like changing the meta information, applying preset rules or sharpening. What I don't like as much is the way it handles imports. It does all this cool stuff like allowing you to change the meta info (like giving them all the same location or copyright info) but I've had problems with it falling over with duplicate file names, some thing that iphoto has no problems with.

I like what you've done with the photo here, LR does have some good tools for portraits like the skin smoother.

Default LR2 question

I know this may not be the place, but can you tell me if LR2 has given any flexibility to the copyright watermark? Allowing you to control the size and placement of it on export? Thanks for posting a sample. I too am trying to decide whether to upgrade.

I have been using Lightroom 2 now for almost a week and it really rocks! I upgraded from Lightroom 1 and there are a number of adjustment features that save me from jumping to Photoshop as much as I used to. It will not replace Photoshop by any means, but it does a great job.

BEFORE
Heron_before

AFTER
Heron_after

The new Adjustment Brush lets you selectively edit exposure, sharpness, contrast, saturation, etc... using brush tools similar to Photoshop. In the photos above I was able to adjust the exposure of heron separately from the background to bring the bird forward a bit.
