Default Weight-loss Motivation

Heres a before and after picture of my husband. Basically I played around with PhotoShop with the Liquify tool to slim down my husband. I also blurred the background just by selecting it and using the blur filter. It was fun!

I like the blur effect. The "weight loss" is good too...how do you use the liquify tool? I have tried and tried and tried...and I can't figure it out. Is there a secret?

Nicely done. If only it was so easy in real life.
I might reduce his back some more. Maybe taper more vertically to the frame corner.

How does hubby like the shot?

Al

PS: the little one is a cutie!

Default liquify

Hi, great job! I'm keen to know how you used liquify too... not necessarily complete step by step instructions, but maybe which settings you used, and a general idea of how you used them? I just tried messing around with liquify settings to see if I could do something similar, and it just ended up looking like my husband had been shot in the cheek

Marvelous job. I also have tried the liquify to slim myself down some without much success. And your little one is too cute!

I looked up how to do it in PSE6.

Open the photo - maximize the window - Control A to put selection around entire photo - Control T to bring up free transform command (the Free transform handles will appear at the corners and sides of your photo) - GRab the right center handle and drag horizontally toward the left to slim subject (the more you drag the slimmer the subject gets) - keep an eye on the width field on your tool bar - don't go too far (92% or less ) - press enter to lock in your selection - go to the image menu and choose crop - Control D to deselect - and then tada - the subject is slimmer...

Although, doing that in the above photo prob won't work b/c the baby does not need any slimming...

I have Adobe PhotoShop 7.0. Go to Filter, Liquify, click on the "pucker tool". You might have to play around a little with the "brush size" and "brush pressure". I think I had my pressure at about 70. The bigger the number on both the bigger the difference it will make, so if you just want something gradual, use a small number. Go along the side of where you want to slim the subject. The middle of the circle is where it will "pucker".

Another helpful tool in Liquify is the "freeze" tool. Whatever you don't want effected by the pucker tool, freeze it.

I've been viewing a lot of tutorial videos on youtube. Here's some links to some:

Default I've had a play

I love this liquify tool! It's like someone has given me a new toy :-D I was trying to find a suitable photo to improve, but ended up entertaining myself with this photo of my darling hubby instead. The one on the left is the original, the one on the right is the result of using the liquify tools. I had a lot of fun with it, he was not as impressed...hehe

Liquify

I used the pucker tool as you suggested, on his eyebrows, eyes, chin, and a little bit on his jaw. I also the bloat tool on his nose, lips, teeth, and a little bit on his brow. I used both in rigid mode. It's not perfect by any means, but it has shown me that should the need arise, I now know the tool is there to teak if I must. Thank you for posting it.

you did a great job on the slimming... the liquify tool is fun. The blur would look nice had it been camera DOF rather then photoshop, it just looks a bit off and fake, sry.

Now about the slimming.. i hope your hubby asked you to do this for him, cause if my wife had slimmed me down in pics to post on the net i'd be pretty upset...lol
