Default First "nose job"

I was looking through some of the shots I took at a wedding in May (horrible horrible day =(). I came upon this one and noticed how the shadow under her nose made her nose look alot bigger than it is. The client and myself were happy with the way this pic turned out, but I decided to see what I could do on Photoshop this afternoon.

This is the before:

I did a brighness/contrast and color adjustment layers.
Then I got out the dodge tool (which I just figured out was that "lollipop looking thing" on the toolbar *lol*). I eliminated the shadow under the nose, and then airbrushed it to smooth it out. I burned a tiny bit of shadow back in to give it some 3D. I sampled the lip color and airbrushed in some more color and tried to give more definition to the lip line. I airbrushed out the shine in the cheeks and replaced it with some "blush" that I sampled from the lip color. I also used the dodge tool on the eyes to make them a little lighter.

Here is the after:

I know it isn't the best, or magazine quality (neither is the original photo, for that matter) but I was pretty pleased with what i was able to do with a few tools.

You did really well for your first time. Her new nose could use a touch more shadowing so it doesn't look quite so flat, but overall very nice job.

How does this look? Can you tell any difference? I only added a little shadow-I am still new at the dodge and burn tools and I am kind of hesitant with them.

i think it looked better with the shadow as it gave her nose some depth (not speaking about size! :P)

when you removed the shadow, it sorta made her nose look a little flatter.

just my 2 pennies

I agree. Without the shadow under the nose, her face looks flat. The shadow gave her face some depth.

With or without the shadow, what you did was a vast improvement on the bride. It look smuch smoother and softer which is what it should be. Well done
