Default Yellow Jacket

Well I have the challenge of a point and shoot with limited macro combined with newbie skills! (I don't know why it says "nifty fifty" under my name I can only dream!)
So, here's my before and after:
I cropped it, adjusted the brightness and contrast, and the highlights and shadows using Photoshop Elements 4.
Also increased the canvas size by 2% in black and then increased the canvas size by 1% and used the eye dropper to match the color of the leg of Yellow Jacket.

I would appreciate feed back on the crop/composition and the adjustments.

I like the crop. That hotspot on the leaf is distracting to me.

barefoot kiwi,

Here's a quote from FAQ, which is loaded with similar information:

Member Titles

Forum ranks or titles are based on the number of posts that you have made, not on the actual gear that you own. The ranks are:

0-49 . . . . . Point & Shoot
50-199 . . . Digital SLR
200-500 . . . Nifty- Fifty
500-999 . . . Super Zoom
1000- 2000 . Prime Lens

If you want people to know what gear you shoot with, check our FAQ on how to create a "signature"

I like the crop too. Good wing detail.

Actually, I think the crop is off. I'd give the yellow jacket more "head room". In other words, I'd move him up and to the left - past center - and make a slightly horizontal frame rather than square. That will create a little more "movement" in the image. I like the actual frame you made - black & gold - nice.
