Default group shot

Now, I'll admit this freely-I am a BEGINNER's beginner with heavy PP work. But here is a shot that just sold again, so I decided to alter it. Here's the old:

Then, I sharpened the faces, and cloned out the volleyball net lines around them to get this:

IMG_9801a

I hope they like it-my website (not flickr) has only the old version, so they won't know that it will be different (don't worry, I'll either refund them, or give them both versions if they want)

it also appears that you lightened it up quite a bit.

Felt that the faces on the second picture might be a little too overexposed.

I would try to lighten the background some so it doesn't look like a night shot w/ flash.

If I may add, whenever you shoot a group like this again, I'd suggest using a slower shutter speed (and a tripod) to capture some background detail. It adds info and interest to the image. Try something like a 30th of a second and check your histogram.

I had to take this right after a game, so I didn't have my tripod. But it is a good idea-thanks.

Sure. I seem to take everything I own to every shoot. If nothing else, at least I look like I know what I'm doing.

I don't because I don't have a space to myself, and the rabid fans/players have a tendency to not watch their feet. I've seen press equipment get kicked & mauled by accident so many times

You might consider some kind of backpack or something (I've seen luggage bags with rollers used) for equipment. That way you have it with you, but if someone kicks over the bag, or even falls on it, they're not going to hurt anything.

Another suggestion would be to use a monopod - it's more "crowd friendly". Good for sports photography also.
