Default Thank-you card...

I needed a quick thank-you card for a client who works close to my home. She enjoys walking past our gardens on her break and now brings her new born for walks. She is constantly remarking on the changes in the garden and the new things she sees as the season progresses.

Needing a card for her I took a quick stroll through the garden looking for one of the flowers she may not have seen from her usual vantage point. took a quick snap.

Nikon D50, 50mm f5.6, 1/25 second at ISO 200.

I use Adobe LightRoom and PhotoShop (CS2) combined but didn't need to go to PS for this one.

Mild crop, curves for greater contrast and boosted the red luminance only. Finally applied a bit of vignetting to really draw in the rose. The thank you tag is added at print time using the LightRoom print controls with customizable id tagging.

All in all, it's a pretty fast system for creating cards. Printed on matte photo paper with blank back for personalizing the inside.

I decided to print and frame and 8 by 10 of this for her as well (without the thank-you applied). She loves it.

It's amazing how a nice photo, ends up to be a great photo after a little PP. Looks great.

Very nice - I love finding real-world applications for my photos, perhaps more than taking them in the first place.

The thoughtfulness of the project almost surpasses its beauty. I am sure it is something she will treasue for years to come.

Nice. It's one of the better ones I've seen and certainly better than most any of the "Thank You" cards that I've seen.

Excellent use and treatment of a nice shot.
My only suggestion is to lighten it overall - it looks just a little dark & heavy for a greeting card.
