Default Old ship

Before:
Old ship

After:
Old picture of the old ship

Decided to try my hand at aging a new photo.
Colorized the photo, added noise and grain, then slight "glow" and vignetting. Finally photographed a sheet of crumpled and coffee-stained paper and blended with "Overlay".
How did I manage?

BTW, please take a look at the originals at Flickr.

Hi

the original picture is very good-
the overlay is too blurry and the coffee stain on the paper seems a bit distracting- good idea though in a sepia look I would try to redo without the stain and blur maybe sharpen a bit-

I really like the look, stain and all. It looks like a photograph that has been around a couple years =). I love the paper overlay idea, much easier than creating the look digitally. When you print it (which you certainly will) try a small border, i think it will set the picture perfectly!

Looked at is again and that pier in the bottom right is driving me nuts, especially in the aged photo....clone it out?

I REALLY like the first photo - so its hard for me to judge the second one - BUT, if I never saw the first, I would really like the second one.

Great job on the edit! to me the first one is ok, but the edit really makes this pic a "classic"! Great job, esp, the detail of the stain

There are lots of contrasting opinions. That's great feedback.
Thanks, everyone!

Holger hi, iam a big lover of tall ships The craftsmanship that shipwrights and builders used to make these beautiful vessels is amazing. Your picture before & after, inspired me to have a go at cloning all the background and place the ship in the open sea. It looks as if it is stuck in the doldrums. Hope you dont mind, i will of cause remove it if i offended you in anyway.
Regards Carl.
