Default Bland Colour to Striking B/W

ive turned a noramlly bland shot into quite a striking photo, do you like the result?

Good job imo, like the lead in and composition shame the sky wasn't a bit more dramatic but it certainly works for me, i might loose a little bit of sky if it were mine but overall a good rescue

Great b&w conversion - much improved over the original color photo. The dirt road really pops in the b&w version and serves nicely to balance the white/light points in the sky. Well done!

I was wondering how did you crop it.. then I realized you shrinked the width.. am I right? The After looks much improved..

i basically used the dodge and burn tool for the whole photo, I brought out the shadows in the clouds making them more dominant in the photo, then I did the opposite with the field making it slightly lighter then it was, I aimed for darker borders to draw your eye into the centre.

Then I made the path even lighter going over it a few times with the dodge tool making it stand out alot more.

I think that was basically it, you just have to experiment really making certain bits darker or lighter and see what happends to the effect of the photo, hope thats helped somewhat.

ok, i haven't played much iwth the dodge/burn tool but i know where it is and how it works at least LOL.
