How did you achieve this?

Now mind you i have only had photo shop for about ten days so my methods may be considered very rudimentary but i feel it got the job done.
The picture was actually separated into two layers. I erased the bird completely from one layer and worked on the lighting and the color of the background. I laid the cleaned up background layer over the original so now i had a sharp background but still a dull bird. I then separately edited the bird layer so that i could make mass adjustments to the bird keeping everything in the same light, color, contrast whatever. I feel it came out pretty well took about forty minutes but in my opinion was well worth the time. |

I think that the retouching is absolutely amazing. Overall, the colors really pop now. I view the images separately, just so that I wouldn't overestimate the effects of the enhancements you made, but I still have to say that you did a wonderful job. the image is crisp and bright. I like how you maintained the quality of the feathers. Actually, you made them appear more real than they did in the original. Really great job.
