Default Boring osprey clean up!

THe original was shot on a cold, windy, cloudy, misty winter day. Good close up but horrible light.

Here is the clean up.

Now mind you i have only had photo shop for about ten days so my methods may be considered very rudimentary but i feel it got the job done.

The picture was actually separated into two layers. I erased the bird completely from one layer and worked on the lighting and the color of the background. I laid the cleaned up background layer over the original so now i had a sharp background but still a dull bird. I then separately edited the bird layer so that i could make mass adjustments to the bird keeping everything in the same light, color, contrast whatever. I feel it came out pretty well took about forty minutes but in my opinion was well worth the time.

Spot on. I am not an expert to comment about the method, but I can surely say the result is very good. Nice work.

Nice shot! Hard to get those birds to stand still.
Might be ny monitor but I thought the bird could use some brightening.

I think that the retouching is absolutely amazing. Overall, the colors really pop now. I view the images separately, just so that I wouldn't overestimate the effects of the enhancements you made, but I still have to say that you did a wonderful job. the image is crisp and bright. I like how you maintained the quality of the feathers. Actually, you made them appear more real than they did in the original. Really great job.

Nice post-processing!

Really kept the original feel of the photo, just made it look better :P
I find some images are over-processed :-\
