Nice photo but I must say I prefer the original - it has more excitement - the lights add atmosphere. The 2nd shot just doesn't seem to have as much life in it.

I agree. The lights add to the story. Where and what is going on? I would clone out the people (except the singer
etc anf just leave the lilghts. I also prefer the color version. The brifgt white suit seems more rock and roll star-like

I love concert photos, it's my "thing".
I agree with the rest of the guys above me, that the original was more interesting. The stuff in the background tells the story! also, since it's my favorite thing to do, I see a lot of other people's photos from concerts. Doing the black-and-white, or sepia thing is very common, and can be clichéd. However, it lets you get away with more in postproduction by raising exposure with less noise. Check out this guy: www.ishootshows.com for some more concert photography by one of my favorites! |

I did a fast edit on this one. I still did the levels adjustment on multiply so the suit wouldn't be so blown out, I think I set it around 40% opacity or something like that. Then I got rid of everything but the singer and the lights. How does this one look? Is the original still the best? I wasn't necessarily trying to improve on the original, but I just wanted to see what I could do-I am trying to hone my post processing skills. Thanks for the advice.

yes, I think this one shows a much better picture of what's going on
I agree with your crop, mostly because whoever's in the background was not paying attention at all, lol I think the last that is the best one, good job |
