Red face Rubik's Cube

I am new to post production... the second thing I learned on Gimp (aside from cropping LOL) is this so-called "Selective Coloring"

So tell me which one do you like, the un edited or the edited....

ORIGINAL:

Rubik's Cube (unedited)

EDITED:

Rubik's Cube (edited)

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

I prefer the second. In the first, the light color of the wood distracts. In the second, the cube stands alone. Nice colors.

I think I like the unedited TBH...

Also why the empty space to the left?
Also maybe try different lighting to reduce the shadowing...

I'm sorry I hope I am not *speaking* out of place

The second one is the better choice for post production.. It really makes the Cube pop off the page and show the brillance that everyone remembers while trying to figure these mind games out.

Great job.

This is done because really in life things are not centered and perfectly done. We do things mostly in unconventional ways, it gives me character to the shot, at least that is how I picture it. I try to not have all my shot centered and the focus be off a bit.

The white looks a little green in both pictures. I'm guessing there was green in the room. I like the first one best. The colors in the cube really pop. But the cube itself looks kinda funny. Maybe it's just me.

I like the second better. Great job with selective coloring. I think it gives this photo a very vintage feel.

As far as the white space goes, I actually think you could have left more. It would have followed the rule of thirds a little better. I definitely think it looks better offcentered than if it were centered.
