Default Loose Recreation of Video Game Cover

My son wanted to loosely recreate a video game cover. I know it is not exact but he is happy with it.

    1. Copy and paste pant leg to make it longer (used layer mask)
    2. Changed color on gun tip
    3. Levels adjustment using layer mask and color correction
    4. Added texture
    5. Added lines and reduced opacity
    6. Added red & green color on separate layer linear dodge blend mode and reduced opacity
    7. Added lens flare
    8. Sharpened

I think I need to see the video game cover to know what you were going for... otherwise it's just too dark for me

I'm going to take a guess and say the game was likely CoD: Black Ops. In which case, this is a pretty good imitation.

Definitely not exact, but it's in the spirit of the original and I think that's pretty schweet. The darkness is perfect. I know it's not a critique forum but I think I'd like to see a close-up/cropped version.

All in all, the final result is really nice

I like it. Similar feel to it than in the game cover.

I would've gone with a closer crop like in the game cover. Maybe it's matter of taste.

Two things that instantly jumped at me.
Keep an eye on the halos (gun at bottom left, shadows of tips of the shoes) that are most likely generated by sharpening too much. You don't always want to sharpen globally.
The lens flare isn't believable to me. I would leave it out, or as earlier mentioned, crop closer to get rid of the lamp altogether.

Decent job on the pant legs. Didn't catch it immediately but beware of repeating patterns.

    Keep on 'shopping.

Thanks for the comments I really appreciate it. Here is a cropped version with the edits that was mentioned. I didn't want to crop any closer for fear of losing more clarity.

Nice job... Out of curiosity, where did you shoot this?

Cropped version is a big improvement.

In the original I didn't pay attention to the arrows in the background. In the cropped version they kinda jump out as they don't quite fit the feel of the image in my opinion. If you're to ever revisit this photo (as in take it again) I'd suggest taking one shot without them arrows.
