Default Chester Walls - Kaleyard Steps.

This is an image that I decided to come back to to see if I could improve upon it somewhat.
It was taken some time ago on a Fuji S1600 'bridge model' at about 3 in the morning in Chester, England.
F3.1
8 Seconds
ISO 400.

Before.

After.

White balance was adjusted in Camera RAW.
The annoying purple flare at the top was got rid of using a combination of the clone tool and alteration in the Hue/Saturation window in PS and the lamppost cloned out.
The light flare on the right was eliminated with the clone tool and the healing tool as were a few other things like the little yellow sign on the box on the left.
Repairs to the hand rail (some highlights removed and some added) were also made with the clone tool, the roof (top left) and the sky - which was darkened a little and smudged.
Topaz Adjust 'Spicify' (love that effect) was applied with a few minor adjustments.
Hope you like it.
All comments and critique are welcome.

You really transformed the image - a lot of great textures in the finished product, the result of a remarkable bit of PP based on your starting point.

TFS.

Thanks for the comment.
I was pleased with the way the mossy cobbles 'developed'.

The biggest annoyance about photographing Chester is that barely a square inch of the place has escaped being photographed previously. - A quick search through Flickr will reveal several images (mostly b+w, I think) almost identical to the above original one. My aim was to try to do something just a little different and felt that this was a step in the right direction.

Thanks for looking.

Wow! You did a really good job with the cloning! I can't even notice that you removed the flare and light post! Great job!! Thanks for the info!

Thanks. I'm kind of new to the whole Photoshop thing so it's nice to know I'm going in the right direction with it.
Looking back at the image, I'm thinking that it looks a little strange that there are shadows (of the railings) without any obvious light source to cast them.
...Thoughts on this?

I attributed that to moonlight since the shadows affect the whole image consistently. Looks great to me with no blaring fluorescents. Nice job!
