I am a total amateur photographer but am trying to hone my skills and not only take better first time shots, but also improve on my post shot production as well.

Here is the first image... It was an "opportunity shot" so I did no camera adjusting and shot on auto:

The after is a crop and B&W color mask around the girl and a little contrast adjusting with Gimp2:

I like the subject, but I would have included Mom, as she as you can see more of her face than the babies. I would also straighten the image. Normally angled shot are trying to show action, not much of this here. Babies are fun and you will have lots of opportunities to practice your skills with that one.
