Default Mini Bay

Hi!
I just find this photography that I took in Valparaiso, Chile, a beautiful city by the sea and thousands of houses all over the hills.
Anyway, I thought this photo was perfect for a tilt-shift effect, so I did it.

Original:

Tilt-shift version:

This effect is kinda popular because is easy to apply: Open your photo in Photoshop and create a new layer, add a mask to this new layer, add a reflected gradient to the mask using the gradient tool leaving the black zone over the section of the image you want to miniaturize (the center area in my example above), then apply a Gaussian blur filter to the new layer and pretty much that's it.
You can play with curves, saturation and the shape of the gradient.

It's easy to try

Have fun!

You've done a great job here. I think you were right to spot that the photo was a good candidate for this effect and you have applied it well.

Thank you guys for the comments, all my friends say that it looks like a lego land also .
So, I find another one that I made a couple years ago, this is from a Chilean beach called Bahia Inglesa, the same beach where I took the picture posted in this thread (page 15, post #142):

Original (pertty boring):

Tilt-Sift version:

I applied the same technique that to the first image and added a little bit more saturation.
