Default Heashot Portrait retouch with b4 N after

I posted a couple of before/afters here in the past. Here's another one. I can try to answer any questions you have.

Retouched using Adobe camera raw and CS4. Plugins like Portraiture were not used. Just did it the manual way by hand using a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet.

Some of the things that were done:
-Color and exposure adjustments in RAW
-Skin heal and cloning out stray hair, etc
-dodge&burn, lots of it
-facial contouring, very little
-enhance eyes and fix makeup
-reduced nose size.
-rotated the lips and re-contoured the philtrum( area between the upper lip and under the nose.)
-more global and local color adjustments
- A tad of sharpening

thanks for looking

This is very good Photo enhancement, something seldom seen from beginners.

Colour adjustments, I like it, including all cloning.
Eyes: Lashes etc. good, pupils also good.
The eye whites, this is the only area centering right on the boarder, and one has to be very careful not to end up with two headlights, as nothing in nature is paper white.
This particular girl had very strong whites to start with, so I guess that little if anything was done here, but there does appear just a touch.
The nose job, lovely I like it.
The lips it may or may have not gone 1/2 a tad more, who knows, but I like that also.

All in all Great job … full marks

Cheers

Thanks. I also appreciate the time you took to critique.

I agree about over brightening the whites of the eyes. In the case of this retouch I didn't seek out to brighten the whites intentionally. I did add a tad of contrast globally to the image and that would cause the whites to be more white.

This was my guess as well. ... Would like to see you do some more.

Didn't do much with eye lashes, I just burned/darken each lash. Sometimes I will hand draw new lashes and/or extend them. To extend lashes I use the smudge tool with brush size of 3 or less and just smudge the lashes out to extend. use a brush size that is smaller than the lash your extending. Then grab the eraser, set to low opacity and with a big size eraser head and lightly erase the lash tips to fade it a bit to get a more natural look.

In this retouch I posted here on DPS I used both hand drawn and smudge to enhance her lower eye lashes. This can be considered NSFW image. Genevi skin retouch(boudoir) There is a rollover before after link and it's easier to see the eye lash change.

The eye liner was easy since the color is very close to black. I used the color picker tool and painted it in with a low opacity brush.

I do all of this on separate layers and I use a wacom tablet which makes it easier for me to draw and paint. Hope this helps a little. Of course another method for creating eye lashes is using the stroked path method with the pen tool.

I have posted a few other older retouches here on DPS. A search for thread started by me should give some results. Unfortunately I have nothing new to show. Maybe in a few weeks I'll have a new retouch
