the 'glamour' is a little overdone on the face. I'd also suggest masking out the effect on the tree because you lose a lot of the bark detail.

I like the composition and the simplicity of the photo, but I think the new version looks like over exposed or with too much brightness and that is something easy to fix.
Congrats¡

i agree. a tad overexposed, and the details that were in the original were lost a bit. original>fill light a bit>a gaussian blur or median layer (with details like eyes and hair masked>screen or overlay this layer, with opacity to match, vignette layer< that's how i would've done it.

We like to ask that you add a bit of detail to the before & after posts:
Quote:
  1. We'd like these threads to run similarly to the 'How I took it' thread where one person shares both their images but also HOW they got the results that they did. (ie while you're welcome to show off your work we'd like this to be a learning experience where you impart your knowledge on how you got the end result. You don't have to go into massive depth if you don't have the time but the more you can share the more we'll all learn.)
  2. ...
  3. Please describe the process that you used to get from the 'before' shot to the 'after' one.
If you're just looking for critique on the after shot, this may be better suited to the critique section.

Looks like maybe you took this in the middle of the day, or when the outside natural light was real bright, so went in the shade, but didn't use a flash, so the subject is too dark. Then tried to post process and it blew out your subject. To me, lighting is everything. Try this early in the morning, in during that golden hour of wonderful warm sun in the late day. I think you have a good start, just maybe try shooting at a different time of day.
