Default Pizza hut: from new to age old

I was practicing zoom while shooting in my living room. I wasn't expecting a great shot, just practicing the technique. But I thought this shot looked kinda cool although I was not particularly happy with the overexposure.

I cropped it to remove the distractions, adjusted color curves, brightness and contrast and used the cubify tool in GIMP for this. But I was still not satisfied.

Home delivered pizza hut!

So I finally added the old photo feel using GIMP and was quite pleased with how it looked.

However, I am new at this and am open to suggestions, comments and critiques.

If you have an ND filter, use it to gain yourself some zooming time. I've had a lot of fun with the zoom and an ND400 filter that gives me at least several seconds to play with the zoom effect.

That really does look like a flying saucer is landing in your living room lol. I like it though it looks pretty cool. And actually, the overexposure adds a little something to the picture, probably wouldn't look as neat without it.

Sell it to a sci-fi junkie! ha

Thank you everyone for your comments and compliments. It looked like a flying saucer was the first thing my husband said when I showed him the pic!

Thanks for the tip! I am relatively new at photography and do not have all the gear yet. But I will get there soon!
