I'm new to this site and only just registered as I am interested in what others think of my shots, and I would also like to win the DSLR camera, as I am currently using a normal digital camera [even though it is 12mp and I am very happy with it], and I would like a proper camera with the lens and everyting.
This is a photograph I took in Scarborough. I really like the angle and composition of it, and the way I edited it. [Photoshop CS3] I used a navy blue exclusion colour fill layer set to 100% and a lightish brown hue colour fill layer set to 35% Then I added a curve, in the shape of a slanted S Then I added -50% levels on the middle number. Then I flattened the image, and drew around the castle with the lasso tool. I then selected lab colour from the colour>>mode option, and clicked the channels section. I then selected the lightness channel, and added a 50 50 0 sharpen>>unsharpen onto it, before selecting image>>mode>>rgb and flattening the image once again. I have also used this effect on a picture I took of the colleseum [coliseum] in Tunisia, aswell as using the clone tool in photoshop to remove the people and date and time. I really like the original photographs for the composition and colors. I think the edited ones are kinda over sharpened, I think that because of the white halo.
