Default Stick Insect

Hi to all .. I'm fairly new to DPS. I joined a while ago but due to work commitments haven't had the time to participate much before the last few days. Semi-retired now with much more time on my hands ... I am having fun and learning much as I browse around all the forums.

I took this photo last year with my son's Samsung S85camera in November 2007. I liked the composition but it looked very washed out and uninteresting so decided to put it through Corel PSP Photo XI for a more dramatic effect. I can't quite remember all the effects I applied I do know I sharpened, colourized, enhanced the shadows, cropped it, popped a frame around it and am happy with the result.

Wow, the post processing makes all the difference in this photograph.

Thankyou for your comments Timkoo and Pshorten ... They are quite harmless insects. They move very slowly and in a robot fashion. I'm fascinated with them and hope to get the chance to get another photo of one again soon.

Ooo I like! That picture really makes the bug appear huge!

That is an incredible difference. In the first picture, the first thing that I noticed was how the shadow behind the bug was a distraction and should be removed. In the edited picture, the shadow behind the bug helps make the picture. The increases in contrast and the color tweaks are an obvious improvement. Well Done!
