Default Pompeii before and after

If you dont know anything about Pompeii, it is an ancient city that was covered in ash after Mount Vesuvius erupted about 2000 years ago. It was completely covered and forgotten. It was only re-discovered about 100 or so years ago. The ruins are in great shape considering all that happened.

Since Pompeii is a huge tourist trap as well, there are always tons of people there and they tend to get in the way of great photographs. So what I did was photoshop them all out. I also wanted to make the sky more like it was sunset, with the red and orange tones to make the mood more somber.

what do you think?

Wow, I like that, the after is really great. It doesn't appear you did anything with the mountain. I'm amazed at how you took the people out. I have a photo want to do that with and haven't quite figured it out yet.

Wow, what a difference! I'm not entirely convinced on the colour of the sky although it looks much nicer than the blue sky. And the colour of the stones look great and really reflect the sky colour, definitely sunset lighting. And well done on getting rid of all the people!

I really like the shot...I took a similar travel pic a few years ago when I was there. If I could have only known what I know now...

What methods did you use to "photoshop" them out? I have a picture I've been working on, trying to remove one person. I used Scene Cleaner and gotten ride of most of them but there is that one area I can't get.

I used mostly the clone stamp tool. different brush sizes and varying degrees of feathering turned out pretty good I think.

Hi, that must be a great job to ps a phone like you did, that’s fantastic.

The golden sky looks like something holy is happening, very amazing, like the scenes we used to see on TV. But I’m sorry to say it seems kind of unreal. Or maybe I didn’t get your point? If you made it that way, could you tell me why?

Thanks! I really like this picture, particularly the mountain….

Since Pompeii was destroyed when Mt. Vesuvius blew, I wanted to make the sky a redish/orange to give it a foreboding feel.
