I don't know a lot about photoshop but I have been starting to play with my photos more lately. This edit was done simply by an initial play with curves and than I kept adjusting the image with brightness and contrast and pasting the new image over the top as an overlay. I done this several times with one of the overlays even being in black and white until I achieved a look I was happy with. I'm only new to this so there was probably a quicker easier way to achieve the same result.

i think the before picture is better. if you could have lightened the sky in the first pic or "blued" it a little, you might have achieved a better result. to me it seems like you lost a lot of the color definition in the after pic.

The before picture is much better. A slight increase in contrast (try local contrast, look it up on Google) and just a small modification of the levels is all that pictures needs.

Try to keep the soft light from the before picture. Try copying the picture to a new layer, 0% blending, soft light effect, and then increase the blending from 0% and up until you like the result.

The after picture is almost destroyed. Curves are much more difficult to master than levels. Bookmark as many Photoshop tutorials you can, it takes ages to learn Photoshop, but when you understand how to use the feature correct, then you take your images one step further.

Yea, I would agree that the before is better. The blown out sky is distracting to me.
