Default Olio, Aceto

Took this picture during a trip to Italy a couple of weeks ago.
I would like the colors to get a bit more distorted, to give it a more exotic "retro" look, if anyone have ideas, feel free to edit...I'm still trying to figure out what does what in Photoshop!

What I did, for the most part, was to follow these steps from a DSP tutorial as a starting point, even though "Lomo" was not my final goal.

Before:

Olio, Aceto

After:

Olio, Aceto v.2

Default :) Love your PP

For a newbie in Photoshop, that was actually pretty good. You deserve a pat on the back.

I like the dark background in the second one! If I might make a suggestion, it'd be nice to see a version that's rotated a tiny bit so the jars are upright. The slightly off-kilter look makes me twitchy.

I agree that a slight rotation would be nice... Love the darkened background though! It really helps make the jars stand out! Cool shot!
Peace,
Terry

Slight rotation would be very nice indeed... and I second (third? fourth?) the comments about the darkened background. As for the color, you might try playing with the saturation settings a bit or posterizing the image with a high amount of levels (it's under Image >> Variations). The nice thing about digital post-processing... the undo button! So don't be afriad to play.

Here's a rotated version..unfortunately I forgot to save a layered version before I flattened it out for lab color mode and sharpening, so I had to rotate over the jpeg version instead...but still, it's an improvement. I actually didn't notice much the rotation, just saw how bad it was once I started fixing it!

Olio, Aceto v.3

Thanks for all the comments

I've post-processed another pic from the same batch, and following the same "geist"...

DSC00910.JPG

Spring is coming

One thing I tried to do but didn't know how is to "protect" the red roses, so they wouldn't be affected by the color distortions I've applied on the rest. Any tip on how to achieve that, would be awesome...

Nice photos The vignette and the saturation reminds me the LOMO style.
