Thanks for letting me have a play.

I started with your BW converted image, and In CS2, I did a levels adjustment layer, brightening the midtones and whites slightly and darkening the blacks. To bring out the eyes more, I duplicated the layer, lassoed the eyes in a loose figure eight, new layer via copy, set mode to screen, lowered the opacity, then used a large soft brush to erase everything but the eyeballs. Flattened and saved.

I love that technique for a realistic eye pop - it's great because you can play around with the opacity, as much or as little as needed.

I'll take it down if you'd prefer!

Autofocus- I took a series of 5 photos that look almost identical, I meant to upload 826 and accidentally did 825, oops!. I replaced it into the original post . I'll get the hang of all this eventually!
No biggie, I'm just so used to looking at near identical shots all within a series that I have learned to look at very subtle differences in shots.

Can you give me some more info on the levels adjustment you did? Did you use the curves feature? I'm still pretty dim on what exactly to do with that, and how it all works.

Also, did you do 2 new layers for the eyes? 1 regular, and then one with just eyeballs? Was it the whole eyeball? just iris and pupil? Thanks for the info I'm going to give it another try

For the levels, I just moved the midtones slider to the left a bit, and the blacks slider to the right a bit, and I think the whites slider to the left just a tad. For the eyes, I duplicated the layer, lassoed the eyes, then clicked on "layer, new, layer via copy". In the layers palette I set the mode to screen, lowered the opacity, and then just used a big soft brush set to black to erase back everything that was brightened (you'll see the figure eight shape brightened) except the eyeballs, including the whites. Usually I don't touch the whites but in this case it worked, as they were pretty dark. Hope that helps.

that's an amazing shot. Looks even better at the close up and the light black and white effect.
