Default Combining Pictures

On Halloween our family gets together to take all the great grandchildren to trick or treat. Well I always try to get a group candid of them. I never expect it to be special as there are to many children who are interested in candy than staying still for a photo. So, when I finally got one with out buckets in front of the faces, all the kids looking forward...I realized one was missing. So we took some more. Well when I got home and checked everyone of the last set, my darling granddaughter had something in front of her face. So, decided I would try combining two pictures. I am sure there is an easy way to do it, but this was a first to try and add a person to a group picture. I'd explain how I did it, but the truth is I didn't write the steps down..it was a hit and miss type of session. It's not perfect but at least no one feels left out.

After - I added the little blonde 2nd from left.

Is there anyone else that can tell us how he might have done this? What software did you use? I've got a photo that I need to do the same thing.

I used Gimp 2. I have other programs but it was the choice of the moment. I can't tell you what I did. I know I used two pictures and a number of layers to achieve it. If I get time to sit down this weekend and no one has answered you..I will see if I can duplicate it again and write the steps down. It was mostly cutting, pasting, a little blending and layers.

Sorry I know that is not much help.

You need to layer it in PS.

Somehow the child seems out of proportion?

I wouldn't say out of proportion, but she is better lit and more saturated than the rest of the photo, which makes her stand out a bit

I dont think eathier that it is out of proportion, but I do think it is a little more coloured than the rest of the child.

But overall it is a great diting, you have to pay attention to notice the girl is added.

Talking Picture revisited

I went back and erased some of the signs of editing..like the white outline around her. Tried to blend her in a bit more, but her coloring is still brighter if you are looking for her. I tried to add the little fighter into it...but could not figure out how to anchor him in so he didn't look like he was a clip art sitting on top of the pic. Oh well, maybe next year we will glue them in place long enough to get a picture! By the way thanks for the feedback.

I think GIMP is the perfect tool for this. But, she looks a little brighter than the kids around her. You seemed to have fixed that the second time around though.
