Default Sunset, Boats and a mountain backdrop.

took this shot around sunset, although it was a cloudy day the sky was blue all the shots was losing either the stillness of the water (slight ripples) colour of the sky or shadow areas. metering point was the trees on the far shore and Shooting in ev -2 ,0 ,+2. i found that this was the better picture to get all the elements back to what i remember (this ev 0) i decided to tried to edit all of this in Raw editing in photoshop CS5 and this is what i did.

sorry this photo from photobucket has come out blurred for some reason but be assured its the before of the final picture!
Photobucket
adjusted in cs5 raw -

Basic - exposure, contrast, blacks, saturation, vibrancy and brightness
split toning - hue light red - saturation 33
camera calibration - shadows - adjusted more into blue hue

applied gradient filter - adjusted all to suit

spot healed and cropped.

Samsung GX10
shutter speed: 1/45

aperture: f19

Taken Ambleside, Lake Windermere, lake District.

Very basic but really pleased with the end results, almost exactly how i remember it. All comments welcome!

It never ceases to amaze me the things that can be done in post processing. I love the way you brought this scene back to life! Beautiful!

Good job, though I think you've added a pink cast to it which doesn't quite work.

What method did you use to sharpen it?

The original picture is clearer than it looks, its stored on photobox and resized using their tool. i think it just didnt process correctly. at the same time using the CS5 RAW program i upped the clarity to +11 to help the picture.

RecurrentNerve, yes a pink hue was added to try and give the late evening impression (as it was) there was a pinker sky around 30 minuted later but by that point i was heading back on the last boat to our hotel. wish i could of stayed but i didnt fancy the walk

I really love what you've done with this photo. I actually visited the lake district last august and have several photos that, like yours, just didnt capture what it was actually like. I'm learning how to use photoshop and will definatly try to make mine better like this too!
