I just got a brand new Nikon D90...ive been reading through the user manual for the past few days and still cannot figure out the answer that ive been struggling with! maybe someone can help me!
is their anyway that i can shoot in black in white or sepia insted of going back and editing after they were taken on my camera? i now it was saying i need to format my memory stick....but their is no button i can click to shoot in back and white? for instance if i wanted to shoot everything in a red tone....how would i go about doing that....or do i have to take the picture and then go and edit it on my camera? |

Hi,
Go into your shooting menu and set the picture control to Monochrome if you want to shoot in BW.. I believe that most people, myself included, shoot in color and then change to BW through post processing.... this way you have more options with your photo. You can also change it while viewing the picture on your camera by clicking the OK button > Monochrome and then you have the option to select BW or Sepia or Cyanotype. As far as shooting in red tone, I'm not sure what you mean, but underneath the Monochrome option in the pic view menu there is Filter effect selection as well. Hope this helps... Cheers!

I too shoot with a D90 and have played with the monochrome shots. I did not like any of them. I shoot in color all the time and do my own B&W conversion in post so I have full control.
