Default Night Shots

here are my night shots that I took with my Canon Powershot S5 IS

Before

After

is there any better way to take these photos without it being so gray? I had to edit it a lot to look like the final picture. I think it still looks pretty solid, but its almost as if it went through plastic surgery.

I also added some stars with MS paint

My settings were:
f/3.2
Exposure: 15 seconds
ISO-800
Focal Length: 6mm

This was my first night shot, I thought it was pretty good

night 007

Camera Nikon P100
F-stop f/2.8
Exposure 1/4sec
ISO-400
Focal Length 5mm

But I was fascinated when I saw the result of this shot, I forgot my tripod attachment so just sat the camera on a rock wall and left the exposure for 8 seconds, there were no lights around except the distant lights down the coast and this was taken about 2 hours after sunset

DSCN1264a

Camera Nikon P100
F-stop f/2.8
Exposure 8 sec
ISO-400
Focal Length 5mm

I plan to do more night shooting when I get a chance
