Default 1970 Triumph Spitfire.

We got ourselves a new toy, and I just had to get some shots. Here's one I had a play with - shoulda washed her first, would have saved a whole lotta pp work.

And after a whole lot of photoshopping: -

Assingment: Cars

I'm still in the early stages of learning how to use Photoshop, so this took about an hour and a half.

beautiful car, nice pp, but maybe you can still improve it by selecting the baggage compartment lid and reduce the dark purple tint caused by the sky reflection and adjust it with hue and saturation.
just my opinion though.

any chance you could give us a brief rundown of the steps you took to arrive at your final product?

Thanks, edbayani. I think you could be right. I was working on this last night, and after almost two hours I'd had enough. I might give your suggestion a try.

The bit that took the longest was the SPITFIRE emblem on the side. I selected the whole badge, made that area blackish. Then tweaked the opacity back so I could see the letters underneath, selected each letter individually and inverted it, making a kind of silver colour. It does not bear zooming in too close, the edges of the letters are a bit wobbly.
I cropped a bit from the left, the paint work in that area leaves a lot to be desired, and I could not figure out how to 'fix' it.
I painted out the dirt and some marks on the paint work with a soft edged brush, colour sampling as I went. Then smoothed out the colour gradient change with blur and heal.
Then I sharpened various bits using the high pass filter. The chrome and shiny paint work got several sharpening treatments to get an artificial/surreal look.
I also made an attempt to make the reflection of myself in the bumper less obvious, using clone stamping and healing. I don't think that worked too well.
Oh, and I messed around with the numbers on the licence plate. The registration number is NOT FM6666

Great photo. My only concern is the stone wall behind the subject which makes it difficult to properly see the right side of the tail end of the car. I wonder if it could be darkened a little bit. Otherwise, you may be able to move the car somewhere without the bright wall.

Nice work on the car details though

Okay, so taking the suggestions above, here's a new version with darkened wall, slightly less purple on the 'trunk' (He He, love that! It's a 'boot' where I come from ), and I've lightened up the back section of the car too.

Take II

Nice PP man! I liked the original color on the boot a little bit more though. It's looks more playful and has a more lomo-esque feel to it which I like a lot.
The reflexion on the bumper looks a bit harsh, maybe you could slightly tone it down a little, so it's less distracting.
Other than that it's just great!

Keep up the good work, I love the shine on the boot lid, how do you do that?
