before:
![]() after: ![]() rusty pipe by hyimted, on Flickr more of me wandering around, trying to find something to photograph and experiment with depth of field. i think i’m going a tad too heavy ... might need to bump the f-stop up a bit. this is a shot of the water pipe from the side of our house. it had a bit of rust on it, so i thought it would make for an interesting color shot. once i imported the pic into aperture, i cropped it and applied the 'cross process 1' preset. i liked the way it shifted the colors so much i didn't tweak any other setting. not completely happy with the cropping though ... doesn't feel quite right. would love to see how you would have cropped it to make the composition more interesting. or (obviously) any other comments/suggestions more then welcome! exif: 200, 32mm, f/5.6, 1/250 |

Here's my take, there isn't much to work with as far as the cropping goes, I tried several different crops, but in the end think that you were on the right path. I did edit out some of the distractions with the pipe on the left, and fiddled with the contrast and saturation a bit....

Your cropping is better Kevin, but the editing for me is very messy and with too much definition imho. I really like the tones in hyimted's edited photo
