Default Sunrise Over The Machine Planet

So, earlier I was trawling through my archives (imagine a vast and echoing cathedral-like library and you will be exactly correct) looking at some shots from the Dark Ages (i.e. my point and shoot days). While the image quality of some of these shots isn't brilliant, I still found a few that were half-decently composed, thanks to my little old Fuji Finepix's in-built rule of thirds grid display.

I found this kind of abstract shot of a building, which is in fact an IMAX cinema:

A bit flat, a bit dull, but an interesting subject. So after 20 minutes of tweaking (some of which was utterly random and experimental), I came up with this, Sunrise Over The Machine Planet:

This is a combination of levels, hue/saturation, and color balance adjustments, with a bit of lens flare added for the 'sun'. I kinda like it.

I think they are both pretty cool each in their own way. Nice post work on the 2n.

Looks great! Way to make a simple dull picture really pop out.

I love what you've done with this photo, it really does feel like sci-fi - 'metal world' is a very apt description.

I like it, but take out the lens flare, or use a few one from another shot. That is so overly used it should be avoided. I love the concept though and the image is very cool.

Hehe, yeah, lens flare is pretty retro. I added it to make it more astronomical-like.
