The image I want to discuss today is one of those *zingers* that captures people's attention. The cleavage probably has something to do with it, but more than that I feel it is the sense of motion and action that brings the eyes over to see what is going on.
Our image today features Cambriea, probably my most photographed model and someone I have worked with since I got into photography. I am completely obsessed with hair in my photos, especially the long type. So much can be done with it and when it is in motion, you can really hear the choir of angels singing. Often I use fans, or a good breeze, but sometimes you resort to the "hey, whip your head around real fast and don't fall over" technique. Lighting and photoshop tutorial for this image is here: Light, Shoot & Edit: Pump Up The Volume AFTER: ![]() BEFORE:

I love any feedback I can get, so I will take your comment to heart and perhaps revisit the image and pull back on the opacity of the texture. thank you very much for the comment! it does look a lot better at full size (click on the photo on the blog page). these small ones here are rough on the edges of objects.

Maybe it's my position on the evolutionary ladder, but it is all boob to me.
I like the toned down lighting in the after pic, looks much better. I am not sure if you could do that even better by softening the flash in the set up, rather than the PP On the hair... You have gone to a lot of work there so why not finish it off by touching up her roots. The natural blonde is growing out and has a line across her forehead. |

Actually she is a natural red-head and that is her real color. The light might just be hitting her at an angle that makes it appear lighter to you.
The background in the image was textured in a harsh way because I liked the "feeling" it gave to the image over the original smooth one. I could have picked any texture, but I wanted one that felt industrial. It seemed to match her pose and expressiveness.

Hi Scott
You are a brilliant photographer and one after my own heart. For the first time, on this site, I think I have found someone who shoots with the same intention in mind as I do. I have done this shot numerous times and have to say yours is as good as it gets. Lovely movement and the shot angle is great which also helps to "thin the model". You obviously know how to use your studio lights to maximum effect and your subsequent PS is just right - not too much smoothing, etc. A great photograph and a very good write up. Many thanks for sharing and lets see many more.
