Default Mystic Ice

Here's two picture who were taken the same day, in the freezing cold of February in Canada. They were both taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ30.

The first one, I had to crouch on the snow to get that angle. It was the ONLY way to get rid of the (very) distracting background. F/3.6, 1/1000sec, 30mm. Here's the "before" image: http://lynxdaemon.net/dps/phoenix_b.jpg

And the after:

Not a lot of modifications, I just played with the level a little (and changed the orientation, of course).

Here's the second one (f/3.6, 1/200 sec, 76 mm): http://lynxdaemon.net/dps/unicorn_b.jpg after some manipulation:

Yet again, I played with the level a bit, adjust the angle, add a vignette effect and a gradient map for the color.

Hope you like them

Ice is pretty difficult to get right. You did an excellent job on both of these.

Thanks I photography those sculptures every year, but there's usually an ugly blue drape background, so I was really happy to get those two

They look great. The first one looks like it's actually flying!
