Default being girly... (cleaned the patio, added texture)

This is my first attempt at using layers in PS and I'm pretty happy but would like any pointers you can offer!

I started by clone stamping out the dryer vent and hose (content aware fill, my favorite PS5 feature, didn't work here). Then added a canvas texture which unfortunately had a dark spot right on her forehead, so i cloned that out and tried again. brought down the opacity, added the vignette with a darkening paint brush, set fairly soft and just kept going around... and Whaaaa LA!

before

after

You did well with the cloning, Thanks for sharing your technique.

I do have a tip for you about using canvas textures on separate layer. Instead of cloning out the dark spot on forehead, adding a layer mask to the texture layer and painting with a black brush on the on the dark spot would hide the texture from showing on the forehead. But make sure that you are painting on the layer mask by having the layer mask selected in the layers panel.

I agree with klam here. If you mask her out I think you will like it better. Also, the only glaring thing to me is the vignette has issues in that it cannot get lighter near the bottom corners, those should be the darkest areas. Now, DO NOT make the vignette darker, just the corners. I am not a fan of this effect but from an optical and scientific standpoint what you have now isn't physically possible and jumps right out at me. Just darken those bottom two corners where you seem to have some light spots and you will be looking good.

Great image btw. Love the playfulness of it.

thanks, i'll try darkening the corners up. the vignette was only added to hide some of the blurry-ness from where i removed the hose. :-)

There seems to be a lot more noise in the second one, I really like the vivid colors of the dress on the first pick, carry that onto the second.

The noise is from the canvas texture that was applied.
