Default Flesh Eating Disease

I have recently acquired a very old Minolta speedlight, that miraculously fires with my Rebel XT......yes, I was amazed as well.

I was playing around with the speedlight off camera, and using long exposures when I grabbed this mask, threw it on, and fired the flash.

Upon upload, this WAS THE PHOTO that had the most character to it....the most "shiver" if you will. But alas! It was blown out, extremely over exposed, most definitely NOT upload worthy.

Not to fear my friend Layers is here!

Several "dirt" layers were applied while masking all the areas that were NOT blown out. Leaving the textures to "fill" the void that the exposure left.

Some blood splatters around the mouth area, done with two separate layers, 1 for blood on shirt, and 1 for blood on face.

A quick flip and we are golden.

Finished

96 views and no comments; that;s a shame. However, I'm probably not alone here... I don't get it!

not alone! i just watched, maybe no, 97!

Never think about saving a overexposed image by using textures andbrushes, im not very artistic at processing, but really worth it!

The nice thing about our own photos, no one else has to "get it" if we , ourselves , like the shots. Interesting shot. I have no clue how to do the layering thing. One day maybe I will learn. One of the reasons when I found this site I joined it.

Shoot on...

Being a member of DeviantART, I think I get it. Photomanipulation is an amazing art form. Your post work on this has saved an otherwise overexposed shot. This shot would be right at home in the "Dark" or "Macabre and Horror" sections at DA. Nice save.
