I think it looks so overexposed because of her extremely pale skin.She wanted to look like the undead.She wanted fangs too but that was an issue with her closed mouth.Lol

I actually don't care much for the retouched version. the main reason is the red in her cheeks now is super obvious, and distracting. If you are going for the pale skin, you need to reduce the red in her cheeks. Personally this is a better look on a brunette than a blonde imho.

Also, the treatment you are using is mostly for a high-key image, and since you have a black background, you are contradicting the styles of the image. Not to say rule-breaking is next to godliness, I would suggest you change the background color to white if you plan to keep this so far to the right.

Also, your crop is ok but you can take off the top of her hair and add a bit more midsection by sliding your crop down a bit. It is more important to get *her* in the shot than the background.
