Default Mt McKinley

This is not your typical "this is how I did it" before & after; and I'm not sure if this is the correct location for this, but I have an image that I want to make as good as possible, because it is a special image.
Apparently, the summit of Mt McKinley is only visible in the summer 15-20% of the time. As we got about 85 miles away, the cloud cover cleared enough to get this shot.

BEFORE

I am new to digital photography, and very inexperienced with PSE 7. After doing all I know to do & try, this is the way the image now looks.

AFTER

Mount McKinley

Camera: Canon EOS 50D
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1000)
Aperture: f/11.0
Focal Length: 170 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: -1 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

I'm really looking for someone to let me know if it can be done any better, and how to do it. To be honest with you, I'm not sure what all I did to get it looking like this.

Thank you all for any help/advice you can give.
