Default Church Steeple

This is a shot I snapped while on a road trip to north central PA. The church steeple of Saint Servian's Catholic Church - a historic landmark in Drifting, PA. This is the original shot, taken on canon Powershot SX10is.

... And this is my edited version. I just played around with it on picnik.com. My first attempt at editing one of my shots. Strange as it may sound, I'm usually more than happy with how my shots turn out that editing never crossed my mind! I think I may learn to like it though.

On a side note, what you some of you think of the free editing websites/services out there, such as picnik.com.. ?? Your opinions would be appreciated as I am trying to decide whether to purchase one, or just use free services. Thanks.

Good job with bringing some extra color in the shot.

I hear that Picnik and GIMP are good, though I haven't tried them yet. If you aren't that much into editing, I would use them for awhile unless you REALLY want to get into the Post Production edits.
I just HAD to go out and buy an editing program. I got Paint Shop Pro Photo and I really like it. But, thats me.

That's the one I was looking at!!! When I first took this shot, i was happy with it though I wished it had a little more color definition, especially in the sky. After browing around on this website and seeing the awesome shots people took ( and how much more awesome some of them looked after editing!) I decided to play around with a few of my shots and what you saw above is just one of the examples. I also have another shot of the same steeple, from a different angle. I will post below. I never heard of GIMP, will have to try that one out as well. I do like picnik.com. It seems pretty easy to use.

Thanks for the comments.. I've been a member on this site for months but hardly ever get on. I think now that the weather is nicer i will be taking more pictures!

Same steeple, different view. Unedited.

Slightly edited to enhance color.

Nice job in editing! You've enhanced the photo nicely, without overdoing it which I think is the mistake a lot of people tend to make.

I've only just started using photoshop for more than just converting to B&W & cropping... but all I've worked out is how to adjust the brightness & contrast, which seems to be enough. I always said I'd never do too much to my photos afterwards, as I'd rather get it right on the camera - but I can see me getting addicted to photoshop LOL!!!!!!!

I've also heard Picassa (?) is a pretty good free one.... I've heard they're good to try to see if it's worth buying a photo editing program... my IT geek husband got me the full version of photoshop as soon as I got my new laptop, so I haven't needed to try the free ones *rolls eyes* hehe....

Photoshop is great for getting rid of unwanted people in shots...
