Default '68 Camaro

I took this picture for my father-in-law last November. This is the first time I have done any post production editing. I was wondering if anyone has any tips for me. I took the original picture and edited it in Photoshop elements 6.0 and Lightroom 2.

Is this the effect you were after when you edited?
For me, the shadows being clipped, and the background being lightened to the point of almost being blown out does not do it for me. All my attention is going behind the car. The order I am seeing everything in the image is;
1) White wall
2) BMW in the backgound
3) Finally the Camaro.

Keep in mind when doing edits like this, that the eye almost always goes to the lightest part of the image first. The main interest i assume in this image is the grill and front end.
Try it again, and try to make your background more neutral, and make sure the shadows don't get clipped to completely black.

On a sidenote, tell the FIL to get rid of the dash mat, and put a factory antenna on that nice car!
Hugger Orange is one of my favorite colors!

Default 2nd go at it

Ok, I tried a few things out mostly to make sure it wasn't as bright in the background. I was shooting for an edgy, this is a badass car feel. I hope this is better.

I like what you did! It's still edgy, and the car still stands out. Good job!

Thanks for the tips man. It was much appreciated. The picture looks a lot better. The exposure level is not as high on this one and it looks more like the original color too.
