Default Photoshop 7 questions

I have PS7 and am wondering what if anything else I need for amatuer post production. I see lightroom and CS2 and 3 and wonder if mine is out of date. I don't want to invest more money for a flashier system but I just have the basic PS7. Does anyone know the differences and or the advantages/drawbacks of them. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Yours isn't necessarily out of date. As long as it still works for you I think that is fine. Photoshop CS is the newest suite and I believe it is the equivalent of the 11th version. It has gotten flashier, more user friendly and the things you can do with it are limitless, but I do also think you can still def edit in the other versions.

If what I read a while back is correct, Photoshop will only allow upgrade for 3 previous versions. Unfortunately, that means Photoshop 7 needed to be upgraded through CS3. Now that CS4 is out Photoshop 7 no longer qualifies for an upgrade.

I could be wrong as my memory isn't what it use to be.

What is it you do with Photoshop? Might help us give you a better idea if spending the money for CS4 would be worth it for you. As far as Lightroom, download the free trial and see for yourself. It has a lot of nice features and I believe version 3 is due out soon.

Best of luck to you!

even if you do not upgrade, you can still get the results you get with the latest cs as long as you know how ro use all the tools. it may take a little longer but the result is the same.
