Default Cat with Wood Carving

I was playing with my new 50mm lens and after reviewing some of my shots I thought two of them would look good superimposed one over the other.

Cat With Wood Carving

Below are the two shots I used to make my photo manpulation.

Cat -w- Wood Carving Before C

Cat -w- Wood Carving Before B

I did have to reduce the size of the cat head shot and had to stretch and angle the bird carving shot a bit to make them fit the way I envisioned. Then a little cropping to cut out the edge areas that didn't match up.

I also had to saturate the colours on the cat, make a layer of the carving where I ran it through the high pass and posterize filters, then a third layer of the carving shot where I did a little dodging over the bird heads where they were superimposed over the cats eyes as they didn't stand out quite enough without. The first layer of the carving was blended with soft light at 50% opacity, the second and third were blended using screen at 15%.

Thanks for looking and comments are welcome.

Excellent work and a very creative combination of photos. I like that in addition to the original cat and birds, I also see an owl in the final image.

You know, I hadn't seen the owl until I read your post. But you are right, there it is. Thanks for pointing that out.
