Default after the match

This is one that I had come right into my head when I happen to see the shot. I got it from across the gym and wanted to get a good contrast to the down side after a wrestling match. I have gotten both the original and the after. There was not much done to get this, very simple since I am still learning what it is I am doing. I just used picture it to clean and go black and white as well as soften the edges. Tell me what you think.
Here is the before

270mm - 1EV over 3200
1/250s - F/8

Here is the after.

I hate to say this, but I think the first shot is strong- though with maybe a different crop. I might try cropping the door out, straightening the image but leaving the ref in the shot. I think it gives it context so you can tell it's a sporting event. As it stands the bw image appears to be just a young man that looks like he's tired from playing basketball or losing a girl.

I think I agree. The first shot gives that realistic photo-journalistic feeling. Full of emotion. Definitely straighten the shot.

I went ahead and recropped the shot and also leveled it out. Here is the 2nd take on the shot. Thanks for the critiques everyone.
