Default Fun with Textures - Before and After

I posted the textured one in the SYS section under Other. Thought I'd post the before and after here too. Curious to see what people think. Especially since I've realized the texture thing is really a love/hate thing with a lot of people including a few of my friends.

Here's the before shot that I took almost a year ago as a test for my 50mm.

And here's the new one where I used about 4 different textures from Florabella.

Fun times.

I like it a lot! I'm a big fan of textures and I think if done right, they look great!

Hy mate, not sure if I enjoy the effect you created but just like to say that the original (top picture) looks beautiful in my opinion and I love it

Thanks guys Yup...this is pretty much the general reaction when I do some texture stuff. Pretty much a 50/50 split!

I can see where an art director might choose the second for a particular project that called for that kind of treatment, but clearly the first is the better image. I don't think the texture adds anything and, in fact, detracts from some of the colors that make the first image so strong.

I like the one with the texture applied. I'm really into texture layers these days.
