Default City Lights

Sky was a bit boring on the night so thought i might spice it up a bit,
Moon seems a little big was a hard thing to get right.

before

And after

So just changed color of the sky to a lighter blue added in the moon and added in stars which are just different layers of noise.

That looks good to me, but maybe there should be a reflection of the moon as well. I'm not sure how to do that because I'm pretty new to that sort of thing.

Hey, I was just wondering about the process of sky's colour change.

hue and saturation, colour overlay, mask the entire thing (which probably took a lot of time) or something else?

thanks

Yah i masked the entire sky It didn't take that long actually just used the magnetic tool then zoomed right in to fix the small detail then played with the color till i liked the look of it.

Thanks a lot for all the comments I think you guys are right about the moon reflection ill give it a go and post results

Hi Shayno, it's a beautiful photo, and you've lightened the sky very well. Two bits of constructive criticism though

1) The moon is way too big: it should be 1/2 degree across, i.e. the size of your thumb on your outstretched hand. You could use the focal length of the lens from the EXIF info to see how much of an angle you're viewing, then scale the moon to match that; for example, if the field of view is 10 degrees wide, then the moon should cover 1/20th of the image.

2) You don't need a reflection of the moon, because you're not reflecting the sky around it. At the moment, it looks like you have a moon shaped glowy balloon hovering over the lake :P

Hope this helps
