I really like this! The composition is great, there's something to look at at every focal length, the colors in the further out parts are wonderful, and you got your sky and ground to be color balanced!! (That's a tough part for me!)

Are you happy with the color in the gate and foreground grass? I'm assuming the ground has frost on it, but the parts in shadow seem to be a little washed out somehow. Of course, I can also think of times when I've seen wooden gates and grass that looked like that.

Unfortunately, I'm very newbie myself, and can't really give you suggestions on how to change anything.

Overall, I really like this picture a lot!

I particularly like the washed out look of the shadowed grass. It's nearly a perfect line with the front trees where the sun starts. Made it really interesting to me.

I wish I could see a larger version of this on Flickr.

Just your noting what elements you like has been helpful as i have taken more of a look at foreground, midground and background elements as a result. This wood was very wish-washy in colour - you are right - and since the sun wasn't on it yet appeared even more washed out - but then i think the rest of the colour compensates - not sure how to improve it without loosing the feel of frost on it. Too late to go back now!
